Baked Golden Cenarth with Cheese Twists

These flaky and crispy cheese twists are fantastic as a party appetiser and the perfect accompaniment to dip into the sumptuous Caws Cenarth Golden Cenarth cheese. With only a few ingredients, you’ll make this in no time at all!

Ingredients

  • Ready-made Puff pastry
  • Caws Cenarth Extra Mature Cheddar Caws Cryf
  • Egg – for the egg wash
  • Black pepper
  • 200g Caws Cenarth Golden Cenarth
  • 100g Extra Mature Cheddar Caws Cryf

Instructions

Cheese Twists

  • Preheat the oven to 190°C (170°Fan) / gas mark 5
  • Unroll the puff pastry and sprinkle the Caws Cryf cheese and black pepper on one half of the unrolled puff pastry sheet.
  • Fold the pastry over and gently press down with a rolling pin
  • Cut the cheese filled pastry into 1.5cm apart strips. Once cut, pinch the two opposite ends of one strip and twist in the opposite direction 3-4 times and place on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Repeat for all pastry strips.
  • Coat each pastry cheese strip with an egg wash and place in the oven. Bake for 20 minutes or until crispy and golden brown.

Baked Golden Cenarth

  • Preheat the oven to 200°C/Gas 6. Remove the Golden Cenarth from its wrapper.
  • Add an optional tablespoon of white wine and some finely chopped thyme, along with a grinding of black pepper.
  • Bake until the crust has risen, and the cheese is bubbling under it.
  • Remove and cool slightly.

Immediately serve on a platter with the cheese twists.
